What worries me the most is when I did a Google and Bing search for “Do It Yourself (DIY) products for Bed Bugs” (About 5,710,000 results (0.35 seconds) and Bing 8,900,000 results. There is so much information out there and I want to know who is right and who is wrong? Everybody is an expert these days, well I have to tell you – do your homework and if you need an opinion find someone knowledgeable. Remember the adage “If it sounds to good to be true”. Don’t fall for all these claims, make sure you get all the facts and don’t use things that could hurt you worse. Hire a professional because they know how better pest control helps protect public health and improves our quality of life.

We all need to bee aware in Arizona and pretty much all of the South U.S. This is an example of why, this picture is a water meter box and if you look close you will see honeybees going in and out of the entrance . What would happen if children were playing and ran across the lid, or fell on the meter box?
What would happen if you decided to check your water meter box and lifted the lid without seeing the bees, catastrophe well maybe? So please see the checklist below and use caution in and around your home!
Our resident and pet snake has decided to be more of a pig recently – she will eat every day if I fed her that often. I fed her twice within the last few weeks and she is content to eat and shed often. She came to us about 5 years ago, from a linen store here in Phoenix. They thought she was a rattlesnake because she mimics the tail vibrating – she is a Gopher snake. This picture above is rather unusual in that she decided to eat the rodent back to front, normally they go after the head and then swallow.
So there I was in my car in the middle of I-17 on Sunday afternoon sitting in traffic. Somebody wrecked , actually it was some type of 5th wheel and it blocked the entire interstate. 2 hours of real boredoom until the termite swarm happened. A little bit of rain and I noticed some flying bugs and all of a sudden one landed on the car and it was a termite swarmer.

Spiders are not on my good list, big or small. I have always been terrified of these pests, especially one as large as this one. Big enough to carry a child away, OK I’m exaggerating a bit, right? Things to do to keep these monsters out of your home:
I continue to be absolutely amazed by these stories, for gosh sakes let be careful out there. “NYC fire officials say resident set of 2 sets of bug bombs, causing explosion that injured 12“.
Fire officials say the woman set off 20 canisters Wednesday. On Thursday, she deployed about two dozen more but forgot to turn off a pilot light. The poisonous flammable fumes exploded, shattering windows on three floors. Three people were seriously hurt.
I’m not sure how big this home was but 32 bug bombs in 2 days is extremely dangerous, as is noted by this report. If you have an infestation that requires you to think that 32 bug bombs will be needed – you need more help than those bombs. Call a Pest Management Professional, at the very least to get an opinion. Don’t get me wrong there are times and places to use these devices but please read and follow all directions, PLEASE.

Many years ago we constantly sprayed inside and outside on a regular basis, times have changed. Baseboard spraying just isn’t the way of the time. These days with new and improved pesticides most pest can be controlled by a really good and through outside service. Now you noticed I said a really good service, particular attention is paid the place where bugs hide. If you can control them where they live or hangout then you have done the best job. Only occasionally do I see a bug on a baseboard and usually it is ants that are trailing and in this case baits work best. So spraying baseboards really isn’t going to help much, is it?
Scorpions are a real pest here in Arizona, monthly pest control is about the only thing that keeps them down. Get rid of the food source and you help to eliminate the scorpions.
We probably don’t realize what they do but we probably couldn’t live without them – the U.S. Custom and Border agents. Every day they intercept bugs and all kinds of things we don’t need in the U.S. “Custom and Border Protection intercept unwelcome pests“.
In fiscal year 2012 — from Oct. 1, 2011 until Sept. 20, 2012 — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and agriculture specialists in South Texas intercepted 13,553 pests. They also intercepted 22,518 quarantined animal materials and 100,338 quarantined plant materials, according to the agency.
Notice, that is just one border station and kind of scary when you really think about it. Arizona Game and Fish have an action plan in place for mussel movement on boats.
Rodents, I just can’t imagine any business these days thinking that they could avoid Professional Pest Control. Nothing and I mean nothing could ruin your reputation than a picture or complaint from a customer. But everyday it appears that business people just don’t care. This story out of Tucson represents my point – “Kitchen Cops – Thai restaurant bugs Pima County Health Department“. Every county these days has a health department to protect the public but I guess it just doesn’t matter. What say you?
