Roaches along with Bed bugs are the nattiest of bugs, except for flies in my book. Flies fly and then vomit on your food, they can be in your back yard and fly in and land right on that beautiful steak. Yuuuuck. But anyway back to roaches, everyone thinks they have the silver bullet. In my professional opinion it is a combination of protocols and knowledge is what it takes to combat these invaders. Any house, yes I said any house can get them, clean to dirty it doesn’t matter. They like to hang in box lids, touching top and bottom of their bodies and make their way into your home.
So some advice.
Check boxes before putting them in cupboards.
If it is pasta or rice, freeze box then place in sealable containers.
Even dog/cat food can have pests, check it out.

Roaches hide so once inside, they will go the far away hidden areas. Don’t install those motels in the bottom cabinets, that isn’t where they are going to be.
GAS REALLY STINKS for property managers,
facility engineers, Realtors and business owners because it:
Bad smells = lost revenue from failed home sales, new leases and lease renewals
Smells Bad = lost revenue due to bad social media reviews from customers
Bad smells = lost revenue from time wasted fielding complaints by staff and customers alike
Irritates mucousa of the eyes, nose, throat and lungs,
Irritated mucosal membranes = Lost revenue from absenteeism and presentism due to infirm staff with headaches, eye irritation, sneezing, coughing and general malaise
Corroded metal = malfunctioning smoke alarms and fire panels
Metals Corrode = Reduces lifespans for electronics like computers and televisions
Corroded metal = displeasing aesthetics for building finishes and contents
Build-up of combustible gasses can lead to fires and explosions and the associated loss of life and property.
Smells like the additive to natural gas,
Methyl mercaptan from sewers in the living space = false claims of a natural gas leak, unnecessary building evacuations and eventually a “cry wolf” culture, where people will not take an actual natural gas leak seriously.
Means there’s unrestricted access for sewer critters,
Dry traps = unhindered access to the living space for cockroaches, sewer flies, etc.
Simple dry plumbing
traps are the #1 cause of sewer gas infiltration.
could always avoid this issue by manually fill up traps with water every week.
Or, you can say goodbye to dry plumbing traps and sewer gas infiltration for

PU Productions was founded by two industry-leading scientists, a chemist, Paul V. Anderson and an environmental scientist, Derrick A. Denis, with nearly half a century of combined experience in indoor environmental quality (IEQ) investigations and testing.
After investigating thousands of complaints ranging from odors and headaches to perceived natural gas leaks and damaged building materials, the problem became crystal clear.
Evaporated plumbing traps and the resulting sewer gas infiltration are a common and costly bane to building occupants, managers and owners.
We dedicated ourselves to creating a simple-to-use and cost-effective solution to this problem.
Sewer Gas Solutions (TM)patent pending evaporation–inhibiting product is the result of over 5 years of research and development.
It provides an inexpensive, long-lasting and easy-to-use method to prevent trap water evaporation in commercial, residential and industrial plumbing traps including sinks, floor drains, tubs, showers, toilets and the like.
It is Green. It is compounded with Certified Organic ingredients and Natural Botanicals. By preventing the need for trap primers or excessive trap filling, it saves water.
It is not hazardous. The ingredients are used in foods, food processing, cosmetics, medicines and more. You could drink it without lasting ill effects (although this would result in loose stool). You could rub it on your skin and you would be moisturized and smell fragrant (but this is NOT RECOMENDED, as it is not the product intention).
Sewer Gas Solutions™:
Won’t damage pipes,
Won’t congeal into a pipe blocking mess,
Won’t cross react with common products that get poured in the drain (bleach, ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, etc.),
Won’t grow bacterial and mold,
Won’t attract pests (in fact it inhibits them primarily by keeping the water in the trap that blocks them),
Works at normal Earth temperature ranges (Phoenix hot to Pinetop cold),
It is easy to use and saves you money. Fill your trap with water, add some product, forget about that trap drying out for months.
No more manually filling every week.
No more trap primer woes.
No more costly installations of valves or plugs that either get stuck closed and result in flooding when the water comes on or get stuck open and do no good at all.
AC on or off, vacant or occupied, summer or winter, Sewer Gas Solutions (TM) patent pending evaporation–inhibiting product is proven to work.
Attic entry points, attics can and do cause a lot of issues. We often forget that our attics exist. Especially at Christmas time when we bring down boxes etc. and find that mice or pest have invaded. Reminder – always open boxes in garage, that way when something pops out it won’t be in the house.
Most people are aware if there home has holes leading into the attic area, but what about hidden ones? The people that build you home cut out the hole that the appliance must fit through. But they make that hole bigger and that is where the issue stems from. Scorpions can fall through those holes, as well as other bugs. I’m sure you have noticed a scorpion in the tub, they can’t crawl up the sides and probably fell in from the ceiling.
Public Health and Human Health, go hand in hand to provide the cornerstone of pest treatments.
Approximately 100 Arizona residents die yearly due to asthma, and 651,000 are afflicted. Bed Bug & cockroach allergens can trigger asthma attacks. Low-income elderly housing residents are particularly vulnerable. Our Community IPM team reduced cockroaches by 87% and bed bugs by 93% in Phoenix public housing for elderly & disabled. Arizona Pest Management Center
Pesticides are a tool of the IPM or Integrated Pest Management. It is important to understand and implement the correct usage of any chemical used. I recently attended a workshop where this subject was addressed especially with the idea of IPM or Integrated Pest Management. Always a great idea to rehash the options you have when using them. I have always believed that IPM works and should be the basis of any pest treatment. I also wish to address the belief of some that IPM means no pesticides, that is incorrect it simply means that you use the other tools first and if you must use them you do so in a manner that is minimally evasive to the structure.
Thank you to Dr. Michael R. Wierda for supplying this information, info to talk with him included with the sheets.
Hoarding collecting, clutter, junk, trash or just way to much stuff. The problem with this is often the amount collected. To much often hides other issues like cockroaches and rodents. With filth comes secondary pest infestation, after cockroaches and rodents may come parasites and flies. If you know me at all, flies are the biggest yuck factor.
This disease is known as compulsive hoarding by excessive acquisition (collecting). And an inability or unwillingness to discard large quantities of objects that cover the living areas of the home and cause significant distress or impairment. I’ve only had to deal with once so far, a mobile home packed to the gills and impossible to actually get under control without a significant clean-up.
Facts: remember the show – “Just the Facts please just the facts.
A few Facts.
All scorpions are venomous but only about 25 species are known to have venom capable of killing a human being. We only have one in Arizona that is a concern however there have been no deaths attributable is some time.
Termites were once classified in a separate order from cockroaches, but recent phylogenetic studies indicate that they evolved from close ancestors of cockroaches during the Jurassic or Triassic.
New reproductive termites are winged, and able to fly. This is the time when most people think they are ants, but unlike ants they have straight antenna and no pinched waist.
Scorpions are known to be one of the oldest animals on earth, 430 million years ago and emerged from the Oceans.
Arachnophobia is the fear of Spiders. It is one of the most common fears in the world. It probably affects about 10% of men and 50% of women.
Houseflies existed 65 million years ago! I hate flies!
In Arizona we have wind scorpions or the Arizona sun spider, these eight-legged creatures aren’t technically spiders at all.
Boxelder bugs can congregate on buildings and home, they are a real threat except to some plants and the best measure to keeping them out is home seal and vacuum when they do get inside.
Did you know that the Arizona State Bug is the Two-tailed Swallowtail Butterfly?
Dinosaurs – Nobody pays attention to the little guys, right? But when there is BIG stuff there has got to be little stuff. Somebody has to break down leaves into compost so the trees can produce leaves which those non-meat eaters are going to munch on.
Actually cockroaches have been around for 250 million years or more. The early cave dwellers probably encountered them often They probably co-existed with bats and other animals in caves. More of a symbiotic relationship, maybe just maybe that is the first time a person told another to get the bugs out of the cave. Da da Pest professional is born.
Doodlebugs you might notice especially under sheds or awning small funnel shaped pits, yep it’s the antlions trap. The antlion waits on unsuspecting prey to fall into the trap and then attacks. These little assassins reside just about everywhere in the US, well maybe not Alaska but check them out anyway. They are way cool!
Now another bit of information, there are bugs that transform into more beautiful things. Monarch Caterpillar into a beautiful Butterfly, Dragonfly Triad into a beautiful Dragonfly and then this Antlion terror larva into a Lacewing, check out some pictures online to see what I’m talking about.
