Solar Fly Trap – Captures Hordes of Flies!

Used by horse owners, breeding and training facilities, dairies, poultry and swine facilities, feedlots, gardeners, pet owners, kennels, and other places where flies are a problem.

This made-to-last, rust-free, heavy duty trap goes anywhere. Use it to reduce existing fly populations, fly blooms and migrant flies.

The yeast bait is mixed with water and poured into the container at the bottom of the trap. Within seconds flies are lured into the trap. They enter into the confinement chamber and dehydrate from exposure to the sun. When the solar fly trap begins to fill up with flies, just empty, hose out and reset with new bait.

Comes with one packet of bait, which is enough for approximately 5 weeks.

$75 at our office, not cheap but will last forever and won’t smell like those other devices.

Lots of animals can cause stinky messes…do you live around messes like this?

IMAG0426

Animals and birds can really cause some major issues, such as bad air and parasites. Bad air within a structure can cause serious Asthma issues and depending on the circumstance can be caused by German Roaches, rat droppings and urine and hair left behind.

At least in the case above all the droppings were on the outside but we can always track them into the home and that’s another great reason to clean carpets. We definitely don’t want that mess in the attic and we don’t want animals of any kind nesting or raising babies.

Rodents will gnaw on anything, what happens if its your home?

probestpestmanagementIMAG0413    Rodents will gnaw on anything to keep their teeth from growing to large and this could cause you some BIG problems. Rodents cause approximately 20 percent of undetermined fires in the United States each year according to fire experts. Pack rats will collect all kinds of stuff, so if you’re missing anything – check for rodents in the neighborhood.

What can you do to keep them out?

  • Seal any holes or cracks with steel or copper wool.
  • Check your home monthly especially in the Spring and Fall, rodents will either try to get in or out.
  • Don’t allow trees to touch your home.
  • Don’t stack firewood or stuff against your home.
  • Don’t leave out pet food.

What am I, Exterminator, Public Health Professional or Conservationist?

What am I, Exterminator, Public Health Professional or Conservationist?

I caught a story on USA Today on conservation regarding the Royals, Prince Charles and Prince William on their work with different charities and international law-enforcement and wildlife groups to propose a global partnership in stopping the $15 billion illegal trade in endangered wildlife.

While I do not profess to be saving large animals, we don’t always kill things. This last week I encountered two snakes and we moved one of them. The first was a very large Diamondback rattlesnake     probestpestmanagementIMAG0418 and then up next to the building was this smaller but just as deadly Sidewinder IMAG0421

We left the Diamonback alone but we relocated the Sidewinder, our mission is to reduce the food source and hopefully the snakes will move on. So it’s not always kill, we sometimes are able to move the honeybees or snakes to another location. We just have to learn to live with or work around the pest issues.

Do they find new insect or animal species frequently?

New ant species located.

New pirate ant species found in the Phillipines “Cardiocondyla pirata sp.” I also just found a great FaceBook page for Zookeys. It got me to thinking about how many species have been located and how many they think are still undiscovered. So I went to the source of all known things – “The Encyclopedia Smithsonian

  • At any time, it is estimated that there are some 10 quintillion (10,000,000,000,000,000,000) individual insects alive.”

  • “Conservative estimates on new species suggest that this figure is 2 million, but estimates extend to 30 million, yet unknown.”

So keep an eye out in your backyard or while hiking, because you never know when you might walk across a new species. Read the info from the The Encyclopedia Smithsonian, it is fascinating.   ants
