We don’t often talk about grasshoppers or locust but I would say that they would be considered occasional pests. Those pests that accidentally get into homes or businesses. Technically a locust is a grasshopper but not all grasshoppers are locusts. Locusts were once known as the Plague of the West and will eat almost anything in its path.

Keeping windows and doors shut will keep them out along with repairing window screens.

The scorpion was a gift for speaking in Mexico (my largest group ever over 500) from my friends Tere de and Eduardo Dessens, Tere saved my life by translating my talk on termites into Spanish and Eduardo used to work for FMC Mexico. The grasshopper I found while on one of my antique trips in Arizona. I’m always on the hunt for unique bug stuff.

Bugs a plenty, they were everywhere… I love it!

We stopped for breakfast the other morning in Cordes Lakes on I-17 just north of Phoenix at the 50’s Backseat Diner and on FaceBook and spotted these bugs just hanging outside on a fence. Of course the consummate bug hunter that I am, we had to take pictures and hoo and haaaa about them.

More importantly, the food is great and worth the stop. I had the “Three Deuces” ( Biscuits and gravy, sausage and 2 eggs sunny side up. Fantastic!
