Ants – baits or Termidor

Ants – baits or Termidor

So the question is – Ants – baits or Termidor, what is the best or what works best?

So what is my preference? Inside or outside would be my 1st question? Inside = TerroPCO, it is a bait which the scout ants find and then the others to take it back home and the Queen drinks and dies. Outside you may have a few more choices from MaxForce Granular bait to Termidor (a spray). I prefer the spray, I use a small spritzer bottle and go around the mound. The bait is a little trickier, once open it needs to be kept cool to maintain the oils. Often times people will open the bait container, product works fine and then needs it again and this time doesn’t work. Oil has dried out and nothing to encourage ants to take it home.

Like any pest, ID first and then decide on the battle technique. Set the plan and get into the battle, as it may turn into this. It may take follow-up and consistency in treatment protocols, that is one reason why calling a Pest Management Professional is the Key to solving that pest issue.

It’s not always about the Scorpions, how about visiting Arizona? Wupatki National Monument

It’s not always about the Scorpions, how about visiting Arizona?

Wupatki National Monument

Walupi Ruin 02 Page 00

The large pueblos preserved at Wupatki National Monument were constructed in the years following the eruption of nearby Sunset Crater, sometime between 1040 and 1100. Volcanic ash, deposited in thin layers, retained moisture and improved farming for an increased population at Wupatki.

One of the things I enjoy the most is investigating the types of wildlife or insects that in habitat areas like this. This area in years past had a very large harvester ant nest and I always brought along some sunflower seeds to spinkle around and watch them carry them back to their nest. Lizards and other wildlife are always visible, lounging around and gathering up the rays of sunshine.

Harvester Ants…

Harvester Ants…

Harvester Ants –  OK I’ve never been stung by this ant but they say this is the ant to avoid. People compare the sting of the Red Imported Fire Ant and still rank the Harvester as the nastiest little stinger of the pair. This ant is quite noticeable due to the large area of vegetation that is cleared away. They gather seeds and will eat other insects. There was a nest of this ant up north that whenever I visited I would bring sunflower seeds and one year the nest was gone. Probably moved on or got destroyed.
