So I think it is a good thing to have a Pest Management Professional make a plan to inspect your home. In the South I recommend yearly or maybe every other year, but please have the house checked. They may spot a leak or wood damage and should bring it to your attention. Sometimes they follow a path made by humans and sometimes they don’t, just randomly foraging for food – your HOME.

As good as you may think you are, termites are probably better! What’s that you say, no way. Termites have been working out their problems over the last 250 million years and what do we do but build houses (wood) right on top of their homes. If you give them an inch they will certainly take it and that is evident of the picture posted below.

You never know how or where they will enter a home and you almost have to play detective to understand and eventually solve the problem. So be prepared to investigate and you will be rewarded with the clues to solve the dilemma for the customer.

#1 & #2 Down tubes – the termites have gone up the wall and are coming back down via down tubes

#3 Damage to drywall – termites will sometimes pop out of the inside of the drywall and do some damage to the paper

#4, #5, #6 Tubes and tunnels coming up from expansion joint in the garage – easiest way to determine if you have termites
