New feature – Tips & Info Dr. Bug

New feature!

Introducing a new feature of ProBest Pest Management which started in 1981 and in 2005 changed ownership, we had the opportunity to partner with the US Post Office to become a Contract Postal Unit which helps us to interact with about 100 people a day who may never have know us. As we interacted we also noticed children, often times not happy with shopping with Mom or Dad. We then came up with the idea of showing a few bugs and reptiles – we currently exhibit 2 snakes, 1 tarantula and 1 Bearded dragon. The kids just LOVE the exhibits and this is how Dr. Bug was created. Dr. Bug shares the features of the Pest and Termite world by exploring the things people may not know about bugs that invade their homes. Dr. Bug also shares his experience to help families and business owner protect themselves from the dangers of pests. You may also send a picture or ask for advice on pesticides or bugs in general from Dr. Bug at [email protected] and as always please bee careful out there.

Racing scorpions

Racing scorpions,

Racing fans and everybody should have some. A friend gave me a present and of course I had to add it to my collection of unusual bug stuff. No need for pest control… Put it together and race against each other, for me its on my display shelf. I have enough issues with scorpions here in Arizona.

Stop by for a race, just kidding. Do you get into Nascar? Lots of people do, I tried going to a Pepsi 400 once. It happens to be in July in Florida, super HOT and humid and that’s all I can say. Did I mention HOT?

35th Anniversary to ProBest Pest Management.

    1981 -2016            Happy Anniversary

Anniversary of ProBest Pest Management – in 1981 Donna and Jerry Probst started ProBest and in 2005 they sold to us. It has been fun and there have been tribulations and a major housing collapse. But that which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?

We offer a host of services including Termite post construction, termite inspections and the occasional pretreat. We also offer pest control, from ants to scorpions and rodent control. we also offer weed control including pre-emergents and the elimination of the weeds.

We are here to lend you a hand on pest control, many people say well we can do that? Many start out doing a good job and then fail to adequately identify the insect or forget to make it a monthly event. We are the experts and we have on staff a Associate Certified Entomologist who can identify that pests.

Seal to keep out the bugs?

SEAL – You have to think like a bug

Seal – One of those things that can be done to prevent bugs from hiding on your property is to seal as many of those hiding places that you can. This includes those block walls around your property, I once found about 50 cockroaches living in a crack along side a home with a block wall. I used a little dust and they came running, it was a sight to see and of course I had to show the homeowner.

We often get into a debate over inside and/or outside, I try to think like this – where do the bugs generally come from? Outside most of the time, so let’s prevent them from getting in and cut down on the pesticide in the home. Now doesn’t this just make more sense? Now if they come in a bag of food, then you have to decide on the best option inside. Many times it might be ants and the use of a bait is right up the alley to get to the Queen ant and no harm no foul with having to spray the whole house.

Save money home-seal and keep the bugs out

Save money

Do you want to save money? Home sealing is a critical and often overlooked piece of pest control! Sealing can save you money in the long run by saving on electricity and seeing fewer insects within the home or business. If you do a few things you can help yourself, blacklight to reduce numbers on your property. Pest control will help to reduce the food prey, which means that the scorpions may move on. Keeping clutter away from or reduced prevents hiding areas. Home-sealing prevents them from getting in.

We require an estimate, where we will look for entry points & propose a fix. For a typical home of 150 lineal feet (outside perimeter) your price would be $600 instead of $900 = a savings of $300! This includes a return visit to check caulking. Enter your contact information on the form to claim your coupon for $2 off per lineal foot!

Pesticide Label, read it please.

Pesticide Label – Dateline: July 2015

Read the pesticide label, why you ask just read the story and lets be safe.

Owners of a Wok restaurant in Sunnybank, Queensland Australia decided to perform pest control on their own. The placed 24 aerosol bombs in their restaurant and BOOM!

“They send up a vapour or an aerosol so what happens is they’re highly explosive so you have to follow the manufacturer’s instructions,” he said.

Just an example is a fogger we use, 6 oz. fogs/treats approximately 5000 cubic feet of unobstructed space 25′ x 25′ x 8′. Now just for the record I want to explain how and why we might use a fogging device.

  1. Very seldom do I use a fogger and usually only on flying insects. My opinion is that it might drive the bugs deeper into walls and hiding areas.
  2. Depending on circumstances placement is essential to functionality.
  3. Lets use an example of German roaches, if you treat the area with a liquid first and get the roaches running a final step might be a fogger.
  4. Read and follow all label directions.

Termites and pictures

2014-06-26 09.10.10

So the termites found their way into your home via the foundation slab wall and you didn’t notice them them. But one day you noticed a smudge on the nicely framed picture hanging on the wall. So you thought it was weird so you investigated and look what you found?

Yep termites! It’s time to call a Professional. Enter your zip code or better yet if your in AZ call ProBest Pest Management at 480-831-9328

Something sneaky came our way, what was it?

Well it didn’t surprise at all, when you see this many crickets you are bound to see a spider or two. Let me tell you this Black Widow was huge, she was almost the size of a quarter. Rodent stations are ideal for hiding, minimal intrusion and plenty of space until we show up that is.

Oh oh, Houston we have a problem

Scorpion sting woman on plane

A flight out of LA had a bit of an issue with a feisty scorpion. Scorpions can hitch a ride but accidently getting into boxes and or other objects. It doesn’t happen often but bugs and other type of wildlife will take advantage of opportunities, maybe there was water or food present or maybe it was for warmth. If you are moving boxes from an attic or shed always wear gloves and take care.
