Bed Bugs = labor, it requires a great deal of time to look through everything in a home. This means opening everything, turning things over and investigating every crack and crevice. So where do you look”

  • Sofa and hideaway beds
  • Beds
  • Chairs
  • Wallpaper
  • Carpet and baseboards
  • Dressers
  • Wall decorations, paintings, nic nats etc
  • bed frames, headboards
  • Cracks in drywall or plaster
  • Closets

So as you can see, it may take a very long time to do a thorough and complete job and honestly that is what you want isn’t it? Oh by the way that last photo is carpet beetle larva skins, so sometimes you find more than what you were looking for.

In the old days these would have been gone in 2 shakes…but not now!

I remember those days as if they were only a year or so ago, wait they were. This Bed Bug problem in continuing and doesn’t look like it is going to let up very soon. These little biters are showing up in houses across the U.S. at alarming rates and the controversy continues on repellency against pyrethrins. No more are people grabbing up old mattresses from the curbside and many places are requiring mattresses to be marked and encased before going to the curb. These mattresses have been here for 3 days and it doesn’t look like they are going anywhere except the dump.

What sucks your body and wallet dry?

I know what you are thinking “Uncle Sam” or the Federal Government, right! The inevitable blood sucking tax man or could it be “Bed Bugs at the Federal Building in Cleveland, Ohio“. This last month it happens that the library in (Hamden, CT), Sinai Hospital, Firehouses and the Federal Buildings are being hit by these little biters.

So let’s reflect on this Bed Bugs are NOT going away, we must all be vigilant. They are popping up everywhere from libraries to hospitals, from movie theaters to high end cloths stores and everywhere in between. If you travel take care not to bring them home and if you get them, don’t waste your money on Do It Yourself (DIY) products – they can work but it’s the knowledge you need to treat effectively. Check out our website for further details on this pest at ProBest Pest Management.

What are the 6 kinds of Bed Bugs?

What are the 6 kinds of Bed Bugs?

OK I’m stealing this from Jeff Tucker with BASF but I thought it was great and I added one to the mix.

  1. Live Bed Bugs
  2. Frozen Bed Bugs
  3. Heated Bed Bugs
  4. Steamed Bed Bugs
  5. Dead Bed Bugs
  6. Gone

EPA Compiles a Master Bed Bug Resource List About Treatment, Prevention, More to be Housed by BedBug Central

With the onslaught of this Bed Bug issue, I think it was a great idea to house all this information in one central location. ProBest Pest Management                 480-831-9328 is a proud Gold Member of PESP  (Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program) since 2005. This can be a handy tool, especially kept in one convenient location. The NPMA (National Pest Management Association) also has a ton of great information for Consumers at their website. Bed bugs for example are being spread rapidly by us everyday, via planes, trains and all the modes we use to travel. They can hide in luggage and clothes and easily show up at your home or business.
