It’s not always about the scorpions or tarantulas, how about visiting Arizona? Zoos

We have two award winning Zoo’s in Phoenix in my opinion.

PhxZoo   The Phoenix Zoo 455 North Galvin Parkway Phoenix, AZ 85008 602-273-1341. This is an awesome zoo and they continue to become better and better, They do have a notice on their webpage about sunscreen and I’m telling you in the summer that is a great idea actually all year long is good. Wear a hat and glasses as well, but they do have several exhibits inside which will help you cool off.

WildlifeWorldZoo  The World Wildlife Zoo & Aquarium 623-935-WILD (9453) | 16501 W. Northern Ave., Litchfield Park, AZ 85340.  It is great to have an additional zoo in the Phoenix area, since I love the concept of promoting animals and wildlife. They recently opened their 4th aquarium building which include turtles and otter habitats.

We never talk about the “Good Bugs, why is that?

Most people don’t really care for bugs, but there are some good ones. What are they: Praying Mantis, Butterflies, Lady Bugs well you get the drift. On that note did you know there is a Butterfly Wonderland right here in Scottsdale just off the Hwy 101 in the east valley.

They also have exhibits on “Live Ant Colony and Honey Bee Extravaganza. Check them out and let’s be nice to the unsung hero’s of our gardens and flowers. Here is an interesting article “Learn to recognize the “good guys“.

Boys will eat anything, even bugs!

One of the employee’s here at ProBest Pest Management (Andon) was called to be a Scoutmaster at his ward. First off let me say I’m extremely proud of Andon and his commitment to Scouting. Andon never made it to Eagle Scout – he got to Life but he has three boys so I’m crossing my fingers. Scout Troop 835 Gladiators

So they decided to watch Bear Gryll’s and try eating some crickets and larvets (meal-worms). They come in some tasty little treats and flavors like Bacon & Cheddar, Salt & Vinegar, Sour Cream & Onion and Mexican Spice & BBQ. We do sell them at our office or you can check them out at http://www.hotlix.com

Nature is really astounding, isn’t it?

Just when you thought you had heard it all, boom something weird happens. “Newly discovered female bug species in Brazilian caves have penis.

There are four new species of bugs that are not in line with gender laws. The bugs discovered in Brazil were noted to have penises in females and vagina in males. But the penises found in the female species are not the typical ones.

Anyway its interesting to note that animals or insects adapt and we have yet to discover many species around the world.

WEIRD ALERT

What about “The Plague”?

New Mexico man is the state’s first plague case of 2014.

Plague is a bacterial disease of rodents and is generally transmitted to humans through the bites of infected fleas, but can also be transmitted by direct contact with infected animals, including rodents, wildlife and pets.

Symptoms in humans include sudden onset of fever, chills, headache, and weakness.

Always be aware of those things that surround us each and every day, you don’t need to panic but just be aware. If you are visiting areas where ticks or fleas are prevalent then just take precautions against them.

Where do Honeybees make their home?

Well almost anywhere!

These are meter boxes, usually they seek out areas that are hidden and away from people such as these closed meter boxes. I also always thought these boxes were to small, but I guess I would be wrong. Africanized Honeybees swarm 30% more often and maybe it has to do with space.

So bee careful out there, as they will make their home almost anywhere.

Amazing facts about eating bugs….

It takes over 2,000 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef but only 1 gallon of water to produce one pound of many insects.

That is one amzing fact and I think we should start to consider this as a factor in the global market. Pretty soon the number of people will far outweigh what we can possibly grow to feed them all. “We eat bugs, You should too.
