Termite sleuth at the job!

Termite sleuth at the job!

Well you know the story it’s not about the actual job it’s my knowledge you really need! At least from the point of view of bugs and termites, anyway. Every once in a while one comes along to almost baffle me, well this one did. Here’s the story:

Two story home, wooden floors downstairs and upstairs, termites issues in the past and we were called to stop them in the wooden floors 11/2011. We actually did drill the wooden floors, customer will eventually have to remove and replace flooring. Termites gone but now the rest of the story.

Upstairs they had a waste basket on the floor and when they went to move it – it was very wet on the bottom. We are talking dripping wet, went back to investigate and pulled up some of the flooring and it appeared to have had termites at one point. Mud is very dry, but when they place the waste basket near the area it gets wet.

This is an everyday occurrence for us here at ProBest Pest Management, the obvious problem is the door threshold and it needs to have a door sweep attached.

Help keep those bugs out of your home, install a door sweep or hey even better we can do it for you. Call and ask us today at 602-249-7378 or 623-414-0176, by the way we even have them for garage doors.

These little spiders just love to cause me sleepiness nights. We have battled these spiders for a few years and although the battle is not over they continue to be a scourge on this home. I have investigated and used different pesticides over the years and actually have found that a wettable powder formulation has worked the best. Its a block wall home and the wettable powder sets on top and prevents them for a few months and then they make their way back. This home is located on a waterfront lake and the spiders just hang out waiting for food to fly right on there webs.

I haven’t given up but it is fair to say that this is an ongoing pest control if I ever have seen one. (Thanks to George for taking these pictures)

A Picture is worth a “Thousand Words”

A Picture is worth a “Thousand Words”

I love this picture, this crack is about as thick as a credit card and this German Cockroach was making it’s way into it, without much difficulty. German Roaches love to have their top and bottoms of their bodies touching an object, it affords them comfort in knowing that they are out of sight and hidden. This is called Thigmotropic – The turning or bending response of an organism upon direct contact with a solid surface or object.

This isn’t the greatest picture but roaches and bugs are able to hide in the smallest of harborages, just think about the ability of Bed Bugs to hide behind baseboards and in dressers or just about any area in which they can flatten out and hide. Remember pests have adapted to us and have done so in remarkable a fashion, they can hide so well that it takes a true Professional to track them down.

Crazier than thee, trust me!

Nobody in Arizona knows bugs more than me, OK there probably are a few especially at the Universities or extension offices but are they in Gilbert and accessible to just about anybody. Well just bring those bugs, or send pictures to ProBest Pest Management 425 W. Guadalupe Road #110, Gilbert, AZ 85233

Or you can them to [email protected] or call 602-249-7378 for further instructions… don’t smooosh!

“Cheap” What a word in Pest Control!

“Cheap” What a word in Pest Control!

I do not prize the word “cheap.” It is not a badge of honor. It is a symbol of despair. Cheap prices make for cheap goods; cheap goods make for cheap men; and cheap men make for a cheap country. William McKinley

So today I had this call about Bed Bugs, I was not the first person there and apparently not the last and here is the real story. The person has had the bugs for several months, maybe a year at this point and has been spending time elsewhere. They had spread into at least 2 bedrooms and 1 living room, I quoted $900 and recommended encasement’s and bagging what they could. They told me the previous company quoted $400 for only the master bedroom but they decided they liked my option better and booked the job. The next day they called to cancel –  they had found someone to do the entire home for $500.

To do this job correctly will take 4 -5 hours and it will be done on hands and knees to make sure you get to the bed bugs, where they hide.

What kind of job do you think they will get for $500? They only have to miss one white egg or translucent nymph?

You get what you pay for and in the creepy world of bed bugs you need a PRO! Like ProBest…

I Can’t Think About Sex Without Thinking About Bugs”

Now just for the record I’m not promoting her home seal, Rachel Krantz is a freelance writer living in New York City, I just found this one home seal to be insightful yet disgusting  in some ways. I guess I just don’t think bout sleeping in other beds and if I go to a hotel I always check my room bed and sofa.

So take a chance an use caution but its worth the read.
