Marketing ideas, advertising and directories! Pt 2 Pest Control Ideas…

In advertising it’s all about what works and what doesn’t.  So in that vain the first thing you must do is to come up with the idea, then implement it and then (most people forget this part) follow up and see if it‘s working. If it works continue on, if not move on to something new and different.

So let’s say you try mailing out postcards, most would say it works if you get .5 to 1% sales but compared to the cost is there anything you can do with a higher return on investment.

You must also decide on the medium involved and your budget, news paper versus TV etc.

In the 3rd part we will discuss a few that ProBest has employed to see if it works and just for the record it may or may not work for you and we will discuss why.

Arizona winter -Where do the bugs go?

Where do the bugs go in the Arizona winter?

Arizona winter – Any ideas?

Do they fly to Cancun or Puerto Vallarta, where do they go? Well the simple answer is that they just hang around usually staying put whereever they were when it got cold. All insects are technically cold blooded, actually they really don’t have blood like you or me. In Arizona it may not get cold enough to kill them. But they get cold, they shut down. They do try to find an area which stays warmer, maybe a block wall that heats up during the day and stays warmer at night as it releases the heat. Rodents on the other hand will find a way into a structure in search of heat. They will gnaw their way in and once in will set up shop, along with any parasites they may have.

So the key here, is to keep them out. Seal, caulk and exclude them out and if you can’t do it – you know who to call —– ProBest Pest Management!

Explore Blog: New Bat Exhibit at San Diego Zoo Safari Park debunks Old Myths. http://vimeo.com/34569367 by Brenden Masar

Article from PRWeb.com

Favorite places includes Zoos. Recent event have brought more of a focus on bats, as the Honeybees has had some disease problems this last year. The bats also developed White Nose conditions and also had a bad year, so this bat exhibit comes at a great time for the bats. It really is amazing that these bats really help man by eating lots of insects and pollinating plants and trees. To find out what you can do to help save the bat, please visit http://www.yearofthebat.org

Also visit a zoo this year – visit Association of Zoo and Aquariums http://www.aza.org and http://wildexplorer.org to get info on animals!

(No animals were harmed in writing this home seal and we encourage the proper methods for capturing and relocating animals located in unwanted places).

Hearing – How do insects hear?

Hearing – How did the insects learn to hear?

Hearing is important to all of us. Those of us who have some insect knowledge know that most insects don’t technically have ears as we would call them, more often than not their ears are in weirder locations than ours. Their ears are often located on their knees or even their chins but not always on the side of their heads. It is amazing to me how nature adapts, amazing that for some reason – the insects don’t need ears on their heads but they do need ears! Check out this article!

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in schools a good thing?

Is Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in schools a good thing?

Texas mandates IPM for their schoolsSchool Integrated Pest Management

The days of spraying every home is gone it’s all about less = more, what do I mean? Pesticides have been changing for a long time.  They have become better in mode of action against the bugs. IPM Institute We now have baits and specific control products for specific insect pests. Isn’t it better to localize treatment rather than spray areas where no bug have ever been seen. Some people may be allergic to insect skins or fecal material while another may be allergic to a certain type of pesticide. Caution should be the power word in dealing with anyone that may be sensitive to a certain chemical pesticide.   A recent home seal here at ProBest talks about The days of power spraying every house is coming to a close…

My theory is less pesticide in the home is better!

Carpet Cleaners – GREEN

Carpet Cleaner and what is GREEN

Carpet Industry or even in our industry Green is a random and often used word which some people don’t understand. Carpet cleaners often claim GREEN and that one company only uses distilled water. In our industry most of those GREEN claims are just not correct – Pyrethoids are they GREEN, organic or what? What about silica – yes it’s glass particles but it can really mess up the veins in your nose and what if you breath it into your lungs. Every once in awhile I see someone spreading DE like it was some kind of innocuous products but much like silica it can also damage the nose veins. Moth balls are another often misused product – Read and understand the labels and use directions.
