Marketing ideas, advertising and directories! Pt 2 Pest Control Ideas…

In advertising it’s all about what works and what doesn’t.  So in that vain the first thing you must do is to come up with the idea, then implement it and then (most people forget this part) follow up and see if it‘s working. If it works continue on, if not move on to something new and different.

So let’s say you try mailing out postcards, most would say it works if you get .5 to 1% sales but compared to the cost is there anything you can do with a higher return on investment.

You must also decide on the medium involved and your budget, news paper versus TV etc.

In the 3rd part we will discuss a few that ProBest has employed to see if it works and just for the record it may or may not work for you and we will discuss why.

  1. I’d say much of the advertising that would work 5-10 years ago no longer will get the same results. For instance, running an ad for pest control or exterminating in a local phone book now compared to 10 years ago will get you significantly different results. We have 5 phone books here in Tulsa, OK. They all go to roughly the same amount of people, businesses and so forth. I receive at least 2 of each on my doorstep so that huge amount of publishing is wasted because most everybody get 2 copies. Seems like most of these get tossed to the trash. Are you really getting your monies worth out of this type of advertising media? Where can you really spend your money these days and get a real, fair return?

    • I got rid of phone books 6 years ago and haven’t looked back since. The internet is the place at this point but things change so you must be ready and willing to adapt. Thanks for the info…

  2. Door hangers work really well.
