There are bunches of Pest Control operators throughout Arizona, and constantly they are vying for the title of Best. What determines the Best? We were included in a few of those local things, but some are made up and just want to sell plaques etc. This blog has won a few over the years and technically speaking we have been blogging since 2009, now we blog every Monday. So let me tell you what I think makes a Best Exterminator or great pest company.

  • They return phone calls promptly.
  • Did they provide an estimate before they started?
  • I think you should also check them via social media, but again don’t believe everything you read. If they have 10 bad things and you see a trend then consider that.
  • Do they explain to your satisfaction, what they are going to do?
  • Do they stand behind their work?
  • Is the work satisfactory to you and does it look good, did they clean up after themselves?
  • Are they rated with the BBB or Chamber?
  • And drum roll please, would you recommend them?

Integrity and what does that mean to you? I believe it means “sell a service and do it according to label/law, deliver what you promised and maybe a bit more. The old Boy Scout Law, starts with Trustworthy and ends with Reverent.  Maybe someone was trying to tell us something. Was it integrity, integrity is doing what your should do even if no one is watching. The other part is the Golden Rule and pretend your servicing your Mother’s home. Can you only imagine if we all started with this premise and followed through the same. 

Today it is so easy to complain, it’s actually harder to say something nice or to recommend or give a positive review. So I’m asking, if someone does a great job give them a 5-star review. I always ask for reviews, if its bad call me, email but let me have the chance to correct it. We are all human and we all make mistakes.

So the question is answered? Does the pest ultrasonic devices actually work? NO

The bigger question for me is, clean your house please? This is disgusting and nasty, the roach droppings are everywhere. Look at the top of the pepper shaker gross.

RANT!

You know what gets my goat? The pricing ($1000 phone) of the newest technology and the pricing of termite work. People are willing to spend $1000 but are shocked by the cost of termite work. There was a report in Florida that compared pricing in 1937 compared to today. A treatment in 1930 cost something like $327 would compare to over $1500 today. Everyday I battle the low price companies, and you get what you pay for. I guess there are companies willing to do it cheap, but we do quality work and stand behind it. We have always tried to do the right thing, it helps me sleep at night.

So think about this when you compare 4-5 hours of work, usually 2 people trenching and applying termiticide. Are you willing to gamble your single biggest investment to a cheap price? Is it going to be done according to Label? What chemical and % is to be used. Are they doing a complete exterior? Is there a warranty and have you checked their reviews (don’t trust them all, but compare and see what they did to fix it)? $1000 phone or technology?

Loyalty – Show that you care about your family, friends, Scout leaders, school, and country. I ran into a realtor the other day, he called and had me inspect 2 buildings for termites. He told me a story that he had used someone else and never solved their termite issue. He was coming back because he had never had an issue with our treatment service. So the moral of this story is – ProBest pricing shouldn’t matter. We may be more expensive but here are the facts:

Meeses, OK I know the plural of mouse is mice, not meese but just had to mess with things. Plus coming up with keywords is difficult as there are only so many to choose from. Have you ever checked your attic for signs of rodent infestation or signs of other pests. You need to check screening or weep holes, the vents in each end of attic. Check your home for pipe entry points and seal the area around and protrusion. Check door sweeps and maintain window screens. Don’t just check the tops, if you see evidence dig deeper.

Gophers and the movie Caddy Shack, see link below. One of my all time favorite comedy hits. I still laugh every time that Gopher dances and makes fun of the landscaper. Now that I do rodent control, it isn’t a laughing matter anymore. These varmints eat roots and new shoots and can be quire destructive. So it is important to keep them at bay and stop them from damaging your lawn and plants. Rats and rodents in general continue to grow their teeth and need a way to keep them useable and sharp. O boy all that rain, over 2+ inches here in Arizona. Thanks to Hurricane Rosa. Unusual for that much water in a few days, and its flooding everywhere. All this brings the bugs out in force and I’m expecting termi8te activity to bump up quickly. What can you expect?

  • Termite activity – check your slab foundation outside and inside for tubes.
  • Increase activity on scorpions, water may push them in.
  • Just like above ants may wonder in to get away from water.
  • This tarantula below was under a French door (thanks Chas A.) he/she was seeking shelter.
  • This is termite season in Arizona, after the monsoons so as usual do a monthly check of your home.
  • Honeybees may be swarming as well

ProBest name change. So I’m sure everyone has heard about this certain company that recently told everyone they were changing their name. It was all a publicity stunt to grab attention to their name and the fact that they more than pancakes. It was a great idea and we all know that they have burgers now. Names can tell what the company does and its even important in our line of work. So with that in mind:
