Rodenticides

Rodenticides

Rodenticide – EPA files notice – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is considering several changes to its regulation of rodenticides
that will jeopardize access to this critical rodent control tool.

WHAT IS BEING PROPOSED?
To make ALL bulk rodenticides RESTRICTED USE PRODUCTS (RUP)

ProBest Pest Management decided years ago to not use anti-coagulates. (The poison interferes with the blood’s ability to clot.) This may cause damage to secondary predators such as owls, eagles, hawks, cats etc. We use either Terad3 (calcium mobilizer) or RatX (sodium chloride -salt. Rats and mice cant throw up or vomit, while the predators can and will. We also offer ContraPest ( birth control).

See the attached picture on our offer, a little more expensive but better for secondary animals.

I personally have seen some bad things, bait packs throw into garages. I’ve seen certain open boxes of bait in front yards available to kids etc. Safety is the paramount concern when handling rodenticides or pesticides. How many people read the label before using a product? I would venture to say, not many. Or they might skim and do what they think is correct or right. Are you using the product consistent to the label and labeling? Have you thought about who might come in contact with the product or the remaining dead animal? Just my thoughts on rodenticides.

Use a Professional, we have the tools, the knowledge and experience to handle all kinds of situations. We are also licensed and undergo training and retraining annually.

Rodent entrys

Rodent entrys

Rodent entrys and WHY should you be concerned? Mice and or rodents can cause significant problems in many ways and we will discuss them all.

  1. Allergens – caused by feces and urine, mice constantly urinate as they run.
  2.  Bite – yes they can and do bite.
  3.  Damage – yes they can cause extensive damage to wood, insulation and stuff.
  4.  They are also known carriers of salmonella and other bacteria.

Rodent entrys pose issues and I’ve probably have said it a 100 times, check your property monthly. This way nothing should get by you, like a raccoon moving into your shed. Or bees developing a hive that is huge in a tree or under hang area of your house. I hate surprises so knowing what is happening at your place. Whether home or business is crucial to living at your place. No one wants to walk out your door and be attacked by bees, living in a water meter box but it does happen. Look up, look down and check it all from the roofline to the base and check out the back yard and in the front. If you have regular pest control, the technician may bring to your attention anything they notice. I have many times found something either under a crawlspace or yard that needs attention. Check out my blog, every week I port what’s new in pest control in Arizona – the antics of a Pesty (Australian Slang)for a Pest Controller. Bugs/pest/rodents are so serious that they fall under many CDC regulations and Healthy Home Initiatives. That is a primary reason why we believe in IPM.

Snakes

Snakes

Snakes

The snakes are out and now is the time to watch where you step or put your hands. We put out a lot of rodent stations, black in color and the snakes love the heat and protection. They also occasionally get a treat when a mouse or rat stumbles in. So lets imagine that you’ve seen some rat feces or maybe a rat. Why should you be concerned? Not only will they try to get into your home but they carry diseases and parasites like ticks. Most of us have pets, like cats and dogs and rats can cause real issues even biting our pets. So with rats comes snakes, when rats are plentiful in a neighborhood snakes are often found. The snake below was found at a customers home near the pool area, can you only imagine what might happen?

So be aware of your property, if you see rodents call ProBest. If your unsure about any holes or openings – call ProBest? Play it safe and call the Number 1 Pest Control Company in Gilbert, Arizona. We are here to help you design a safe and pest free home. Home sealing is another measure to ensure that rodents and pest don’t enter your home. We will come out and inspect your home and come up with a plan to seal it up, including all holes and entry points. Over the years molding and caulking fails and allows wildlife and pests attempt to enter. Sealing is a BIG help.

  1. Reduce Clutter
  2.  Pick up fruit that has fallen
  3.  Reduce or get rid of weeds
  4.  Check your property frequently look up and down
  5.  If you have a shed check it from time to time.
  6.  Fix leaks

Entering bugs

Entering bugs like scorpions, roaches and whatever else can enter.

Entering termites, scorpions et all. Termites can make their way through the smallest of a crack or hole. Scorpions can enter under a door, or a  crack under a window or fireplace. Home-sealing is the absolute best method to keep them out, second to that is pest control and third is black lighting your property frequently.

One call to do it all, 480-831-9328 ProBest Pest Management. Sounds like ProBest could be in the wizardry world, nope nothing magical we just know our business. We train often, we read and attend seminars to be up to date on new products. What makes us different is our knowledge – 2 staffers who are A.C.E. Associate Certified Entomologists.

Meeses in the house

Meeses in the house

Meeses, OK I know the plural of mouse is mice, not meese but just had to mess with things. Plus coming up with keywords is difficult as there are only so many to choose from. Have you ever checked your attic for signs of rodent infestation or signs of other pests. You need to check screening or weep holes, the vents in each end of attic. Check your home for pipe entry points and seal the area around and protrusion. Check door sweeps and maintain window screens. Don’t just check the tops, if you see evidence dig deeper.

Rat Catcher

Rat Catcher

Rat Catcher one of those jobs people don’t do anymore. I must admit, most of those jobs were tough and I wouldn’t want to do them either. The grossest one was used teeth salesperson, yuuuuuck. Times do change thank goodness and new and better jobs will always pop up. It’s like doing Pest Control in Arizona when the temperature is over 115 degrees, I know it’s a dry heat.

So what new jobs will be available, robots will be doing more and more. Fast food employees will be done away with by mechanical systems, taxi drivers eliminate by self driving cars etc. When I was in Seattle at Pestworld a few years ago, they had a GPS self driven device to scare away birds at airports so a Pest technician might be replaced but that’s a long time away I believe.

BurrowRX underground rodents

BurrowRx underground rodents

BurrowRx underground rodents. Do you have underground rodents (rats and mice), ground squirrels, pocket gophers, gophers, moles or pack rats? We have the solution to their constant burrowing, damaging of plants and holes which people and kids can fall into. Another issue that can occur is that these rodents are prey to rattlesnakes and other more harmful creatures. If they are present it may encourage snakes to wonder into and on your property.

The BurrowRx Rodent Control Device

The BurrowRx Rodent Control Device is classified as a pesticidal device. Secondary kills of nontarget species is not likely when used as directed. When the Carbon Monoxide dissipates there’s no longer a risk to anything entering the burrow system. It uses a smoke tracer to let you know where the carbon monoxide is going. It’s your prescription for any burrowing rodent problem. Carbon Monoxide can be used as an effective approach to control of burrowing rodents. As the Carbon Monoxide enters the burrow system, the rodent breathes it in. The Carbon Monoxide then replaces the oxygen in their blood. And without oxygen, cells in the body die and organs stop working.

Customers with pets love the BurrowRx underground rodents because there is no worry about primary poisoning by digging up poisonous bait, or secondary poisoning from gophers that have previously taken poisoned bait. Data efficacy is very effective at 95% at controlling borrowing ground squirrels.

  • Direct targeting of rodents within the burrow system.
  • No reliance on bait acceptance that sometimes hinders rodenticide and trapping efforts.
  • Our solution eliminates the worry about secondary or unintended kills.
  • It seldom requires handling of animals after treatment, which reduces the risk of disease and parasite transmittance to humans.
  • Allows you the customer to see that the technician and product is working.
  • Our commercial business approach is professional and builds customers’ confidence.
  • It can be highly efficacious.

Rodents in attic

Rodents and your attic

The attic and mice or rodents can be a real issue for homeowners. By now you should know that flies are my evil #1 pests and rodents rank as #2. That whole thing of flies landing in your backyard and then getting in and laying on your food just grosses me out. But anyway back to rodents, mice urinate as they walk and rats and mice will defecate almost anyplace. They can track over the ground and then scurry across your food, they can spread salmonellae and other parasitic diseases.  They also are known for the carry of Black Death or Bubonic Plague.

Just one mouse or rodent in the house, is one too many. So what do you do to prevent rodents from getting?

attic

  1. Check your property for holes and entry points.
  2. Fix screen, windows and doors. Use thresholds and door guards.
  3. Check weep holes and replace, they do wear out.
  4. Don’t allow clutter around the house.
  5. Trim trees and bushes from the home.
  6. Don’t allow sprinklers to hit the home.
  7. Call ProBest Pest Management 480-831-9328 for help in any matter related to pests.

Signs of rodents

Signs of rodents

What do you look for with signs of rodents? Rodents are a big deal, no matter what you hear from people. They can carry diseases, they urinate and spread feces in inappropriate areas and can spread germs. Remember they helped facilitate  the spread of Bubonic Plague. So in my opinion no mice or rodents should ever be allowed in a home or business.

What should you do?

  1. Always do a check of your property.
  2. Seal any holes and check for anything unusual.
  3. Pick up fruit.
  4. Clear clutter.
  5. If you see anything unusual call a Pest professional like ProBest Pest Management 480-831-9328

Craft Beer

Craft Beer

I’m a BIG fan of craft beer, I generally like the middle of the road usually less hoppy and not to strong of a taste. What has this to do with pest control? Well these type of places have a lot of grain and water on premise and this can bring in the pests. Nobody wants pests near the beer, especially me. I’m also a fan of local brewery’s because I like doing business with local businesses just like myself. So what is the key to keeping the pests out of a business like this?

  1. Watch for signs of activity.
  2. If you see signs don’t wait, the longer you wait the more of an issue may occur.
  3. Think outside and then inside, stop them from getting in but use caution you don’t want to trap them inside without a good plan.
  4. Seal up and maintain control outside.
  5. Watch out for drains, biggest issue is drain flies.
  6. Continue watching for signs and adapt as necessary.
